Coaches are the heart of our program! Each season, two or more volunteer coaches inspire and guide a team through our tried-and-true curriculum. If you're ready to directly make an impact, then this role is for you.

Become a junior Coach

Junior Coaches are needed to inspire the next generation! Our Junior Coach program is for high school girls aged 16 to 18. Beyond serving as a role model to program participants, Junior Coaches work alongside Coaches, strengthening their leadership skills and gaining a sense of belonging and purpose.

5K Committee Applications are open!

The Girls on the Run 5k committee supports Girls on the Run Minnesota in the planning and executing of our Fall and Spring 5k events.  The 5k committee is led by GOTR staff and made up of volunteers passionate about GOTR's mission. Duties include; one-year committment to support two 5k events, monthly meetings, and being a lead volunteer on race day! Please see our 5k committee description for additional info. Applications will be accepted until Friday, February 10th. Questions, please email 5k@gotrmn.org.

Group Opportunities

Are you part of a group or organization that wants to make an impact on our community? Girls on the Run would love to have you get involved with our program. Here are few ways you can make a difference while working together.

  • Volunteer together at a Girl on the Run 5K event – from cheer teams to water stations to handing out medals at the finish line and more – there are numerous ways for you to help bring this joyful end of season celebration to life!
  • Support with one-day volunteer opportunities. We have opportunities for groups to assist us in critical tasks such as materials packing and Project Gear Up.

One-Time Opportunities

Want to volunteer, but can't commit to a full season of coaching? Fill out our volunteer interest form and we’ll connect with you. 


Our council looks for two new interns every fall and spring semester. Our interns play a vital role in our season's programming and event planning. We will begin accepting applications for our spring internships in October!

Join A Committee or Board!

Volunteering as a GOTR board or committee member is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a difference!

Board applications open in February and 2-year board terms start on July 1: we are looking for community members who have experience in strategic planning, like non-profit fundraising, and are excited to make connections and be an advocate for GOTR.
